About Barnes
Barnes is a district in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, it is situated in the upper north-east of the borough, and so it is the closest part of the borough to central London. Our estate agents love Barnes for its riverside views, and its selection of 18th and 19th century buildings. It contains a historic village area, centred on the pond, forming the Barnes Village conservation area.
Barnes Local’s Tips
Barnes offers an abundance of greenery and riverside walks, making it perfect for families or city workers who are craving a bit more space than Central London, it is hard to believe you are only a short journey away from the city centre. The London Wetland Centre is in Barnes, it is an expansive bird reserve, converted from defunct reservoirs. When it comes to food, Annie’s is a popular restaurant in Barnes, notorious for its eclectic décor. Annie’s serves heart warming, home cooked foods, in generous portions. This is ‘home away from home’ food.
Travel Links in Barnes
Barnes is not on the London Underground network, but it is served by two National Rail stations, Barnes and Barnes Bridge, both of which are in London fare zone 3. These stations are served exclusively by South Western Railway trains, which run from Barnes to Central London, calling at Clapham Junction and terminating at Waterloo.
